Master Maverick: this is how the most shameless scam in NFT games was created

Angry tone and videos of at least half an hour of open verbiage, the youtuber Master Maverick (123.000 subscribers) was until recently one of those strange squires defenders of truth and justice in the cryptocurrency universe: far from promoting NFT games or tokens of dubious reputation (as practically all of the influencers of this nature), this young Ecuadorian had his YouTube channel full of videos warning about scams. In a turn of events worthy of the cheapest of South American soap operas, Master Maverick rose two weeks ago a video with the sole purpose of deceiving, scamming and stealing from his entire community of followers. The result? Total and absolute impunity and a loot of more than $ 360.000.

How was the Master Maverick scam?

At the moment, the youtuber Scammer Brings Over 600 BNB Amassed Thanks To Cryptocurrency Presale scam based on a (non-existent) league game Ultimate Fighting Championshipp (UFC) in alliance with Electronic Arts and Crypto.com.

The game actually does exist. It was launched four years ago for mobile platforms. Master Maverick used the images and videos of this fighting game to ensure that Electronic Arts was going to launch the same title but, this time, with the technology blockchain implanted in its system, so that it was possible to buy and trade with the fighters in NFT (non-fungible token) format. A simple look at the website (launched on November 20 and closed on 25) of the fake NFT video game it was enough to confirm the scam (and we spoke in the past tense because the web no longer exists):

Master Maverick UFC token scam

  • Its design was shabby, scarce and very poor for a project launched by the world's number 1 company in the video game industry.
  • It was made on Wix, a platform designed for designers amateur and, under no circumstances, used by a multinational like Electronic Arts.
  • All legal links (cookie policy, privacy policy) led directly to those on EA.com. In the European Union, this practice is highly illegal and is punishable by a fine of up to 20 million euros or 4% of the company's annual turnover. Back in the day, in one of the live broadcasts on the YouTube channel of Café con Criptos We denounce this practice (given that the website was accessible from European territory). The day after making the public complaint, the website disappeared from its servers.

Master Maverick, confirmed scammer

Since a year ago, Master Maverick has uploaded videos (with an average duration of 30 minutes) in which he limited himself to pointing out suspected scammers with titles and thumbnails as suggestive as "Die fucking", "Cornered scammer", or "Millionaire scamming poor ». Now the question is: was this all part of a simmered plan?

Master Maverick scam
As seen on his YouTube channel, Master Maverick stands out for his disqualifications. Ironically, the scam hunter has become a maximum exponent of what he denounced.

Quoting Obi Wan, from Star Wars, It can be stated without fear of error that Master Maverick has become that which he swore to destroy. Affected by the scam, furious and without the courage to start looking for cinematographic similes, they nevertheless retain some literature in their complaints: «God forgive him, but I want to get his heart out (...) kill that dog under the moonlight it is less than it deserves, "says Alberto Díaz in the group affected by the scam created in the Telegram messaging app.

The victims, who number in the hundreds, have spent days investigating the real identity (Master Maverick did not show his face in his videos) and the whereabouts of someone who, according to your Twitter profile, lives in Florida, United States. At the moment they have found another YouTube channel in which, under the pseudonym of Doctor Macías, a man with the same voice (and a range of high-sounding epithets) comments on the political situation in Ecuador.

The Forward Flight of Master Maverick

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Café con Criptos We dedicate an article to a scam: there are the recent cases of pipemoon o the no less embarrassing performance of the Spanish CEO of Crypto Cars World, Álex to Secas, realizing that this of the cheat in the world of games earn to play are not, precisely, isolated cases.

They are becoming the norm.

However, something stands out in the case of Master Maverick: his flight forward. In a deliberate? Tribute to Joseph Goebbels, Propaganda Minister of the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler, Master Maverick continues to stubbornly repeat that thieves and liars are others, and continues to tweet about the persecution to which he is being subjected by, among others, the youtuber Marciano Finance or the CEOS of the NFT game dragonary.

For example: when the Crypto Cars World token crashed, its manager deleted absolutely all his social networks, including YouTube channel. Of all those responsible for crypto projects and NFT games that have scammed their followers, there is no precedent for someone who, after committing the theft, has not disappeared into the shadows.

In his post-scam posts, Master Maverick continues to claim that he only seeks the best for his viewers. He likes to make repeated allusions to the supposed fortune he won with a token from the Italian soccer team Lazio. It was precisely this video, which he published shortly before launching the one about the UFC scam, that acted as bait for his community of followers: I am going to teach you how to get rich. He warned himself: "in my next video, I'm going to give you a gem that is going to be like robbing a bank." Unfortunately, no one was aware of the extent to which the robbery was going to be literal.
